Anyone thinking of going to MITM (MINIs In The Mountains) this year?? It's nearly 1,000 miles from Los Angeles--Google Maps says less than 14 hours. I'm thinking of going there to work as a vendor for my ShowCarDetailing, and making the drive. I'll probably need two days to get there--I think the most I can handle is 12 hours of driving.
The event runs from Aug 9 to 12--Thurs to Sunday. Means I'd be leaving on Tuesday morning and giving me a one day cushion since it's the first time going there. I would be leaving on Sunday morning, and maybe arriving back that evening. Or I may stay longer depending on if I can get some work while I'm out there.
I plan to buy a Cooper compact spare for the trip just in case--don't think I can afford the loss of space for a full size wheel.

You can do the drive in one day, with the tunes you love and road food, the drive goes by quickly. My mom lives in Eagle, Colorado, just this side of the event on the I-70. I usually leave at about 4:30 a.m. and arrive there at dusk (one hour difference there).
Note - if you leave on Sunday and plan on arriving back in town that same day, remember that all the weekenders vacationing in Vegas are coming home that same time, too. Bumper to bumper. If I have to come through when everyone else is leaving Vegas, I stay in Mesquite and leave at 4:30 a.m. to beat the rush.
That's very important info. Glad to know it's possible to make the drive in one day. As for Sunday--yeah I forgot about Vegas traffic---I don't want to be caught in there after driving 8 or 9 hours!
re: Flingger aww Italy should be a blast. =)

I just ordered a compact spare from Classic MINI today--was $35 + shipping for the wheel--going to order the tire separately from Tire Rack. Oh I forgot you've got a Cooper with a spare already. LOL. I think it'll be a blast!
